Mixed Berry Crumble Directions
The Mixed Berry Crumble Recipe below is made for the Revolve Pizza oven, but you can also make it by using a frying pan to cook the berries and an ovenproof dish to bake the crumble at 200 degrees Celsius (400F).
Step 1
Place your mixed berries on the deep dish side of the Revolve Cast Iron pan. Mix in with balsamic vinegar, basil leaves, and a touch of water.
Step 2
Cook in the (Revolve) Oven at maximum heat for about 5 minutes or until the berries meld into a lush, sticky jam. Add a bit of water if your berries seem to dry up while cooking.
Step 3
As your berries cook, prepare the crumble: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and butter. Use your fingers in a rubbing motion until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Season the crumble with ginger powder.
Step 4
Once the berry base is ready, evenly spread the crumble topping over it. Seal the pan with its lid and pop it back into the Revolve Oven.
Step 5
Set it to a low heat and let the crumble bake for approximately 10 minutes. You're looking for a golden-brown crust that's perfectly crisp.
Step 6
Serve piping hot and pair with a chilled scoop of ice cream, fresh yogurt, or creamy custard. Conversely, cool the crumble and accompany it with warm custard for a delightful contrast.
Make it your own!
The nice thing about crumbles is that you can use a wide variety of berries and fruits to make your crumble. Another classic is to use apple. You could for example make an apple crumble and replace the balscamic vinegar and basil with some cinnamon and brown sugar and use oats for the crumble.
